PS5 Second Drop Stock Sells Out Within Minutes in South Africa

South African retailers opened up pre-orders this morning for the second drop of PS5 stock. However, it did not last long at all. Sony is no doubt facing a massive stock shortage of the console and the second drop did not even make a dent in the number of South Africans waiting for a PlayStation 5.

If social media was anything to go by, gamers got their hopes up but were soon let down by another limited rollout of the console. In addition, retailers claim that their stock was either already pre-allocated to users who “signed up for more information” earlier this year or literally just sold out with minutes of going live.

South African retailer Raru claimed their second drop  PS5 stock sold out within 1 minute and 7 seconds. Other retailers did not even have enough stock to open pre-orders to customers. Instead, they notified existing sign-ups of the available stock.

Customers who woke up early to grab a PS5 were disappointed to find out that their basket was also emptied by retailers due to the limited stock. It seems that some customers did not even get enough time to proceed to the checkout before the second drop allocation sold out. Twitter user Zuckie_Man claims that he did not even get to fill in his details before the PS5 was taken out of his shopping cart.

If you are still looking for a PS5 that check out Game4U. They seem to still have some stock allocated. However, it will most likely last a few minutes and by the time you read this, they could be gone.

PlayStation claims there is a third drop of PS5 stock coming to South Africa but we don’t know when. According to retailer Koodoo.co.za, the second drop delivery dates are between 16 and 20 December. We will keep you posted on any new happenings.
