The PlayStation 5 event kicks off at 22:00 SAT tonight. However, if you are in other regions you can tune in at the following times;
- South Africa – 10pm SAT / 16 September
- US – 1pm PT / 16 September
- US – 4pm ET / 16 September
- UK – 9pm BST / 16 September
- AUS – 6am AEST / 17 September
The stream is live on YouTube across multiple languages. This includes English, Japanese, French, Canadian French, German, Spanish, and Latino.
What to Expect?
Sony is set to announce the price of the console along with a release date. By our estimates, we guess the console is set to retail at $399 for the PS5 Digital Edition and $499 for the disc drive model. In SA, we expect the PlayStation 5 price to be set at around R10,999 to R11,999 respectively. However, this is just a guess based on the Xbox Series X price.
As for the PS5 release date, reports claim the console is set to launch on 13 November 2020 in the US and UK and 20 November in Japan. Keep in mind that this date was set before the Xbox Series S and X leaks meaning Sony may have changed it.
We hope to find out more about the console in detail during tonight’s stream too. A teardown or unboxing of the PS5 would be great. In addition, any update on expandable storage will go a long way to inform users about the SSD options available post-launch.
When it comes to game announcements, we could be in for a treat. Sony will no doubt announce its launch lineup for the PlayStation 5 which may include Demon’s Souls, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Returnal. The stream will also host new game reveals. One of which could be Final Fantasy XVI, a new God of War and that rumoured Silent Hill reboot. Hopefully, Sony will share news on current PS5 games too including Horizon: Forbidden West, and Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart.
Of course, we will share all the announcements right after the event this evening so stay tuned for more.
