The announcement was combined with the news of the upcoming Erangel 2.0 Map for the mobile game which comes with a design refresh. The success of the Middle East server which was recently launched was a prime example of the game’s success in the Middle-East Africa region sparking the need for a new African server.

These new African servers mean players will be able to experience the game with very little ping delivering a smoother and more “international” experience. The servers will be in place before the 2020 PUBG Mobile World League which means South Africa, and other African countries could be participating in the tournament.

There is also a countdown site pointing to the PUBG South African server launch which seems to be at the end of October 2019.

PUBG Mobile has been a massive success and with the growing mobile market, and it is a great entry point for local gamers, the implementation of these local servers means everyone can test their skills at becoming the next nest PUBG player.

Tencent also announced a new version of the game called PUBG Mobile Lite which is now available for low-end smartphones making the game even more accessible to everyone in SA. It seems Tencent wants to take over the mobile battle royale genre in Africa and so far they are doing pretty well.
