Quake 2 Remastered Rated South Korea Bethesda

Quake 2 Remastered Has Been Rated in South Korea

Quake 2 Remastered has been rated in South Korea, suggesting that publisher Bethesda will announce the enhanced version of id Software’s classic first-person shooter fairly soon. The original Quake was remastered and released back in 2021 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, featuring enhanced visuals, improved performance and newly added content from Wolfenstein developer MachineGames.

As spotted by Gematsu, South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee recently rated the unannounced Quake 2 Remastered. No other information was provided by the rating though it arrives just a couple of months ahead of QuakeCon 2023, which is expected to take place from 10-13 August this year, suggesting that the announcement might happen at the event. The original Quake remaster was also revealed and released at QuakeCon 2021.

Judging by the remaster work put into the original Quake, we can expect Quake 2 Remastered to also feature enhanced visuals with up to 4K resolution and widescreen support along with enhanced models, dynamic lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field and more. It’s unknown which platforms it will arrive on but most fans expect it to also launch on the same console and PC platforms as the first Quake remaster.

The Quake IP has been mostly quiet for several years now. Despite the release of the free-to-play arena shooter Quake Champions which launched a few years ago, most fans still yearn for a new single-player release in the series. The full version of Quake Champions silently launched late last year, though the franchise has struggled to maintain interest beyond the original Quake remaster. Hopefully with new remasters releasing, it will spur Bethesda and developer id Software on to make a new entry in the series.

In the meantime, you can look forward to Quake 2 Remastered which may also receive a shadow-drop at this year’s QuakeCon. The original Quake remastered is currently available on PS4, Xbox (including Game Pass), PC and Nintendo Switch and is also backward compatible on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
