The annual QuakeCon is one of my favourite expos to watch due to the awesome Quake World Championship tournament. This year, however, the event is more exciting than ever before, as id Software and Bethesda will be celebrating the “Year of DOOM”. There will also be a “few surprises” and hopefully, that means we will see a release date announcement for DOOM Eternal at QuakeCon 2019 and more.
QuakeCon 2019 takes place from 25 to 28 July, in Dallas, Texas with the biggest LAN Party in North America. That, however, might not interest our local readers that much. However, what will be very interesting is all the announcements, specifically, more information about DOOM Eternal and the surprises Bethesda and id Software are promising.
For those who don’t know, the original DOOM released all the way back in 1993 and QuakeCon 2019 is commemorating DOOM’s 25th anniversary. Sure, the even might not happen on the same day as when DOOM released (10 December) but that’s why they are calling it the “Year of DOOM”.
The official website for QuakeCon 2019 teases “a few surprises” and hopefully, that will mean announcements about Wolfenstein: Young Blood and maybe even a new game or a DOOM Eternal release date if we are lucky.
To commemorate DOOM’s 25th anniversary, our four-day event will include all-new DOOM-inspired activities, events, exclusives, developer panels, hands-on demos, new information about DOOM Eternal, and a few surprises we aren’t quite ready to talk about – all while continuing to feature everything you already love about QuakeCon. That’s right… you’ll still get Quake tournaments, exhibits, panels, updates on all the latest games from Bethesda – and, of course, a massive, round-the-clock LAN Party unlike any other.
Whether you’ve been a DOOM fan since the shareware days or you just recently became one, join us – along with the entire QuakeCon community – in celebrating at QuakeCon: Year of DOOM!
In case you missed it, check out the awesome DOOM Eternal video showing off the best moments of the DOOM Slayer throughout the years, then tell us what you hope to see announced at QuakeCon 2019 this year.
