Star Wars Games Quantic Dream

Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Game is an Open-World Action

Yesterday we reported on the news that Quantic Dream, the studio behind the likes of Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls were working on a new Star Wars game. The game was in partnership with Disney and has been in development for around 18 months already. Since the report went live, other sources familiar with the game have added more information to the rumour mill.

One of them being Kotaku who now claims that the Star Wars game won’t be the traditional story-based quick-time experience we are used to from the developer. Instead, the publication says their source confirmed that the Star Wars game is in fact an open-world action-adventure. In addition, the game will feature multiplayer elements.

While we do believe Quantic Dream are capable of more than just the typical decision-based, narrative-driven experiences, an open-world Star Wars game with multiplayer elements is quite far off from their traditional games. The studio has released some incredible games in the past so this Star Wars title has some big shoes to fill.

Of course, the game has only been in development for 18 months according to the rumour so it might be a while before we get to see it in the flesh. It may take even longer before the project is announced due to its current development cycle. Quantic Dream recently opened a new Montreal studio which will play a big role in the project. Given the current global pandemic and the massive delays across the board when it comes to games and their release dates, I won’t expect to play this until at least 2023.
