What matters most to you: a game’s resolution or fps? When I answer that question, it is always higher fps for a smoother gameplay experience. Well, it seems like developers id Software and Avalanche Studios would agree, as it has been confirmed RAGE 2 will run at 60fps on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. This was chosen over an increased resolution, as the game will run at 1080p on both mid-gen console upgrades.

id Software’s Studio Director, Tim Willits, confirmed that RAGE 2 will run at 60fps and 1080p on both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. This does make sense for a fast-paced shooter as a smooth 60fps should feel much better.
We went for speed over 4K for the enhanced consoles
Some games do tend to offer PS4 Pro or Xbox One X users more choice, for example, a performance mode (increased fps) and a quality mode (increased resolution) but that doesn’t seem to be the case with RAGE 2. Those with a standard PS4 or Xbox One will have to make peace with 30fps and hopefully, that will at least be a solid 30fps. Further, I do hope that RAGE 2 can hold its 60fps target on both the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X.
RAGE 2 is set to release on 14 May 2019 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Those with a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X can now look forward to buttery-smooth 60fps, while PC gamers will obviously also be able to run at 60fps or higher. Tim Willits confirmed that RAGE 2 will have unlocked fps on PC, which basically means the limit to your fps will be your hardware.
