Vodacom rAge Expo 2019 2020 Cancelled

rAge Expo 2020 Cancelled Due to The COVID-19 Pandemic

For the first time in 18 years, the rAge Expo 2020 and its NAG LAN has been cancelled. We knew it was coming sooner or later as the growing COVID-19 pandemic is proving to be worse than we all expected in SA. In addition, earlier this week Comic Con Africa also cancelled its physical event planned for September this year. The rAge Expo 2020 cancellation is sad. However, it was necessary.

rAge shared the news on their official site saying the expo is currently working on a digital event. It is said to take place later this year. The organizers have launched a survey to ask gamers what they would like to see during the online event. You can fill it in here.

If you have already purchased a ticket, you can request a refund through TicketPro. rAge claims the refund process will soon kick off with emails being sent to ticket holders.

Michael James, founder of the expo says;

So, we’re working on an online version of rAge, in the spirit of the technology and inventiveness that drives the expo. rAge has always been much bigger than the building that contains it. So, bringing South Africa’s fabled gaming and pop culture icon to the online world makes sense.

“rAge by design always moves with the times, and in a period when many physical places are closed off, we have decided to open up new spaces in the digital world. It will be unlike anything we’ve ever done before, and we hope to create an experience filled with exciting and unique tailor-made content. This isn’t a simple task and we’re doing what we can to ensure it feels and looks as good as possible, and without too many bugs, glitches or lag. Dates and details will be announced as soon as we’ve ironed out all the important bits.[/perfectpullquote]

We will keep you updated on the online show when more details are revealed. It is truly sad news as the rAge show and NAG LAN make for some of the best days of the year in SA.
