Rain has built its 5G network to be more affordable to South Africa over current fibre, LTE and ADSL. It promises speeds of up to 700 Mbps by making use of Wi-Fi 6 technology. The service is very limited at this time only being available in selected areas in Johanessburg and Tshwane but Rain states the network will expand to Cape Town, Durban and other metros in 2019, 2020 and beyond.
You can head over to the official site to sign up for the service and fill in your details so when 5G becomes available in your area, Rain will let you know. It is unclear where about in Johanessburg the service is currently available but we have reached out for more information on the current situation.
