Rainbow Six Siege Confirmed for PS5?

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege is one of the most successful shooters the developer has ever made. Almost three years later and the game is still going strong with new DLC and seasons. Ubisoft does not plan on stopping any time soon with the team-based shooter as they will be bringing the game to next-gen consoles. Rainbow Six Siege will be making its jump to PS5 in the future.

Chatting to Dailystar, Rainbow Six Brand Director, Alexandre Remy touched on the topic about the game’s future and how next-gen could segregate the Siege community if not handled properly. Remy explained:

“We don’t want a sequel whatsoever. The reason behind this is we don’t want to segregate our community between the different platforms. In an ideal world tomorrow, we’d love players from every platform to be able to play together. We are approaching next-gen with the same spirit.

The strength of any multiplayer game is the size of its community, so I do believe that we have to make every effort possible that when next gen comes in, they are treated as a high-end PC versus another PC. I’m not sure exactly how you’d be able to deploy this and we’re just having a conversation the first parties.

With the PS5 supposedly focusing heavily on backwards compatibility, Ubisoft could either release a separate version of the game for the console and let players lobby together across PS4 and PS5 or they could just have PS5 owners play their PS4 version of the game on their shiny new console.

We are still a while away from this being a reality but it seems that many developers are working on moving not only their games but their communities across to next-gen too.
