Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has become widely popular especially in South Africa after the game received local servers a couple of months back. Ubisoft plans on supporting Rainbow Six Siege for years to come and will even make sure the game makes its next-generation jump when the PS5 and Xbox Series X launches later this year. According to Windows Central, Ubisoft is currently prepping the game for the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch later this year.
The developer is reportedly working hard to target a launch day release for both next-gen consoles. Game Director, Leroy Athanassof revealed that Ubisoft now has several hundred employees committing resources towards the new systems. The publisher and developer hopes the Rainbow Six Siege will leverage the hardware available on day one.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft was unable to share an exact release date due to the new hardware’s street dates still being a mystery to much of the world. However, they are targeting a launch day release date. Ubisoft is also working hard to make sure the community does not suffer any fragmentation by enabling cross-generation multiplayer at launch too. This means if you play on the PS5, you will be able to play against and with PS4 users too. The same can be said for both Xbox consoles.
As for cross-play between PS5 and Xbox Series X, Ubisoft is still in discussion with both Sony and Microsoft in regards to the feature.
When chatting about Rainbow Six Siege PC cross-play, things don’t seem too positive there, however.
Chances are if you already own a copy of Rainbow Six Siege by the time the PS5 and Xbox Series X launches, you will simply be able to move that across to the new hardware and play on it like nothing ever happened. Good news for the Rainbow Six Siege community!
