Insomniac Games has announced that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart has officially gone gold ahead of its 11 June 2021 release on PS5. The developer shared the news on Twitter alongside a quick in-game clip where a “Gone Gold” trophy unlocks. Is this trophy in the game? We don’t know yet. However, fans of the series will recognize the golden bolt, a staple collectable in the series.
For those who don’t know, “going gold” is a term used in the video game development world that marks when a game has completed its dev cycle. This means that the master file is done and ready to be shipped to the manufacturing process. Now, Insomniac Games will make sure the discs are printed, boxes are sealed, the game is uploaded to the PSN servers and of course, media will get review access in the coming weeks. Any fixes needed from this point forward will be added to the “day one” update. However, it is too early to tell whether or not the game will need fixes yet.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart marks one of the most anticipated PS5 game launches of the year. The game is looking rather fantastic as Sony recently showcased new gameplay during the May State of Play stream. We Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will take full advantage of the PS5 hardware. In addition, this includes DualSense support with adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

Yesterday we learnt that the Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart platinum trophy can be unlocked in a single playthrough. In addition, developer Insomniac Games says the PS5 is the least constrained hardware they have ever worked on. You can catch up on that coverage here.
Don’t forget to get your pre-orders in for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart before the game’s launch. The Deluxe Edition now includes extra costumes for the game’s recently-revealed female Lombax Rivet.
