Insomniac Games has announced that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart has officially gone gold ahead of its 11 June 2021 release on PS5. The developer shared the news on Twitter alongside a quick in-game clip where a “Gone Gold” trophy unlocks. Is this trophy in the game? We don’t know yet. However, fans of the series will recognize the golden bolt, a staple collectable in the series.
For those who don’t know, “going gold” is a term used in the video game development world that marks when a game has completed its dev cycle. This means that the master file is done and ready to be shipped to the manufacturing process. Now, Insomniac Games will make sure the discs are printed, boxes are sealed, the game is uploaded to the PSN servers and of course, media will get review access in the coming weeks. Any fixes needed from this point forward will be added to the “day one” update. However, it is too early to tell whether or not the game will need fixes yet.
