Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Platinum Trophy Can Be Earned in One Playthrough

In an interview with IGN India about the upcoming Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Insomniac Games praised the PS5 hardware saying that it enabled the team to craft the dream game they have always wanted. Insomniac Games game director Mike Daly spoke about the legacy of the series and how important it was that the upcoming standalone game delivered true Ratchet DNA while expanding into new territories. Daly also mentioned the Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart platinum trophy and how long it will take to earn it.

Daly goes on to describe the experience of developing Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart on the PS5. He says that there’s nothing worse than making a game on hardware that is constrained by its power and performance. Daly mentioned that working on the PS5 was very exciting.

“Game development is always constrained. But one of the reasons we are so excited to work exclusively on PS5 is because it is the least constrained hardware we’ve ever worked on. The new features of the console give us opportunities to take our games further than we’ve taken it before.”

Insomniac made sure to utilize every aspect of the PS5 and DualSense controller in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Of which, Daly says that 3D spatial audio, controller haptics and adaptive triggers are wonderful features on the platform. He points out that other than the usual visual enhancements that come with a generational leap in console hardware, the DualSens, SSD and 3D audio makes the PS5 truly unique.

“And now that I’ve had experience working with a super fast hard drive 3D spatial audio and controller haptics and adaptive triggers, I would see the lack of those things as much more of a constraint than anything that the console gives us”

For those trophy hunters, the Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart platinum trophy will include an earn time that sounds along the lines of the 2016 game. Daly says that gamers will be able to unlock the trophy in one playthrough but it will take some work. They will have to explore all nooks and crannies and the upgrade system will be a big help when it comes to unlocking the game’s trophies.

“If you are the type of player who just really embraces the game and loves it, we are going to make it possible to get the Platinum without wasting your time. Now we know that some players really want to go much further than that, and much deeper into the game. And so, as with past Ratchet games, we’ve got a challenge mode that lets you start from the beginning of the story again, but with your complete leveled up hero and arsenal, and a handful of gadgets.”

I will definitely be missing some trophies on my first run just so I can play the game a second time. It is Ratchet and Clank tradition to replay the game a second time. Right? Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart releases on 11 June 2021 for PS5. Check out the latest gameplay trailer down below.
