Everything we’ve heard so far about Red Dead Redemption 2 sounds fantastic, including the multiplayer component. Yesterday, we talked about Red Dead Online and now, more information has come to light that has me excited. After the previews from various gaming sites went up recently, it is now confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2’s first-person mode is real.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s First-Person Mode

According to multiple reports from those who previewed the game, including GameSpot, Red Dead Redemption 2’s first-person mode will be available at launch. You can play the entire game in either the third-person or first-person perspective or even switch on the fly. Think of the mode working the same way as Grand Theft Auto V’s first-person mode.

It is great to see Rockstar add this option to the game for those who want more immersion. Yes, I said it, because a first-person perspective has always felt way more immersive for me. However, I probably won’t be playing the game’s multiplayer component, Red Dead Online in first-person since you have a larger angle of viewing in third-person.

After playing the game, GameSpot explains the first-person mode, stating that:

As was the case with GTA V, the first-person perspective can help bring you into the game at a deeper level. Riding a horse in first-person gives you a new sense of perspective and place, while combat can feel more confronting. Some wacky stuff can happen, too. In my session, I was walking through town in first-person when I got run over by a horse who was trotting by. With a third-person camera, I would have seen it coming.

There is, without a doubt, something in me that just wants to experience the Wild West through the eyes of protagonist Arthur. Keep in mind that the first-person mode is entirely optional, not like in Cyberpunk 2077 where it will be the prime focus.

What do you think about the first-person mode in Red Dead Redemption 2? Will you give it a shot when the game releases on 26 October 2018? Let us know in the comment section below.
