Red Dead Redemption has never been released on PC. For some reason, Rockstar just hasn’t done it. PC gamers have been able to play the second game but when it comes to the original 2010 game, it never happened. However, that might change now thanks to the confirmation of a special PC port leaked through the PlayStation Network.
The Red Dead Redemption PlayStation Store listing was seemingly updated with the mention of PC in the description. The listing clearly mentions PC enhancements and the game being available “now on PC for the first time ever”.
To make things even more strange, the description can’t be confused with replacing “console” with “PC” by accident. That’s because the description actually mentions the PC port featuring the “console version upgrades”. The description reads:
Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation — now on PC for the first time ever. Featuring the complete single-player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, Red Dead Redemption features all of the 2023 console version upgrades plus PC specific enhancements including support for increased resolutions and framerates, multiple displays, and other accessories, plus spatial surround sound.
That reads like a Steam Store page if there ever was one. The description is also still available on the store listing here. So there’s been no attempt by Rockstar or PlayStation to fix it yet.
There’s no word when this Red Dead Redemption PC port will be announced. I am guessing with Gamescom kicking off next week, we’ll likely see the port announced during the Opening Night Live show. Then again, Rockstar could simply reveal it any day now.
It makes sense to finally release Red Dead Redemption on PC. Modern consoles got the game last year. Even the Nintendo Switch has its own port. However, PC gamers have been left in the dark for almost 15 years now. Let’s hope Rockstar is also working on that Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 upgrade.
