Redfall, the upcoming open-world vampire action game from Arkane Studios, got a deep dive during the recent Xbox Developer Direct showcase. In addition to getting 10 minutes of new gameplay showing off more of the game’s world and combat, we also got confirmation of a release date as well as a special edition, pre-order bonuses and Xbox Game Pass initiatives.
Bethesda has confirmed that Redfall will arrive on Xbox Series X/S and PC on 2 May 2023, proving previous reports correct. The game will also be available to Game Pass subscribers at launch. As detailed in the gameplay video, the game is a story-driven, open-world first-person shooter which is playable either solo or with up to four players in co-op. Players will battle legions of vampires that have taken control of the small town of Redfall, Massachusetts.
As for what players can expect in the special edition for Redfall, the Bite Back Edition will include the Hero Pass which provides access to two future heroes; the Throwback Outfit Pack, which features unique outfits and backpacks for each of the four heroes; a Laser Beam multi-weapon skin and the Tactical Knife Stake weapon attachment.
Players who pre-order Redfall will receive the Vampire Hunter Pack, which includes the exclusive Grim Tide Shotgun, a weapon that grants 20% increased damage for eight seconds after an enemy is killed, a Polar Vortex multi-weapon skin and a Blood Ravager Stake weapon attachment. The pre-order bonuses will also be available to players on Xbox Game Pass.
Redfall is shaping up to be quite a unique game filled with developer Arkane’s trademarks, including the distinct art style, character designs and punchy first-person gameplay. The “loot” aspect of the game might be concerning to some players but by the looks of it, Redfall will follow in the footsteps of Dishonored and Deathloop as a story-driven title. Players will just have the option to tackle the game with other players.
Redfall officially launches on 2 May 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC (also arriving day one on Xbox Game Pass). Check out the new 10 minutes of gameplay below.
