Hopefully, by June 2021 we have put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us and the world has healed. While the future is uncertain at the moment, the ESA has notified its partners that its ‘reimagined’ E3 2021 will go ahead as planned and take place between 15 June and 17 June 2021.  According to GamesIndustry.biz, the ESA is planning on reworking what we all know as E3 into something new and exciting to make up for the cancellation of E3 2020.

The ESA was forced to cancel E3 2020 this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This being after they planned on hosting the event even when the crisis was crippling multiple countries worldwide. The organization claims they still have plans to host a unique online experience in June this year but have yet to reveal any new information as of yet.

Multiple sources claim that publishers such as Ubisoft and Warner Bros. Games, who both planned on revealing multiple new titles at E3 2020 will host an independent livestream sometime later this year where they will showcase their E3 lineup. IGN plans on hosting a new “Summer of Gaming” event in June too where the media company will host reveals and news for upcoming games and next-gen gaming hardware.

Gaming houses including 2K, Square Enix, SEGA, Bandai Namco, Amazon, Google Stadia, Twitter, Devolver Digital, THQ Nordic have all jumped on board for the event so expect a load of news coming out of it later this year.

As for E3 2021, who knows what is going to happen. The show, in general, was struggling to remain relevant as multiple companies including Sony withdrew participation last year already. Let’s hope that next year gives everyone reason to participate in this new ‘reimagined’ show.
