Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant 2 have surprise dropped on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass without any formal announcement. The “Dark Souls with guns” games have been quietly added to the Game Pass library, both courtesy of Gearbox Publishing. For those who still haven’t played Remnant 1 and 2, now’s your chance to check out what all the fuss was about when these titles initially released.
Fans spotted both games on the Xbox and PC Game Pass landing pages earlier today, which is bizarre considering Microsoft typically announces when new games arrive ahead of time, giving players at least a few days or weeks notice. However, the company seems to have made an exception with the Remnant games and we don’t mind at all. Both titles are fantastic, challenging shooters that are worth sinking hours into.
Here’s a brief breakdown of each Remnant game:
Remnant: From the Ashes
The world has been thrown into chaos by an ancient evil from another dimension. Humanity is struggling to survive, but they possess the technology to open portals to other realms and alternate realities. You must travel through these portals to uncover the mystery of where the evil came from, scavenge resources to stay alive, and fight back to carve out a foothold for mankind to rebuild…
Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival action shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by monstrous creatures. As one of the last remnants of humanity, you’ll set out alone or alongside up to two other survivors to face down hordes of deadly enemies and epic bosses, and try to retake what was lost.
Explore dynamically-generated worlds that change each time you play, filled with over 100 varieties of deadly enemies and 20 epic bosses to battle using a wicked arsenal of weapons, armor, and special modifications you can use to adapt to any situation.
Remnant 2 is the sequel to the best-selling game Remnant: From the Ashes that pits survivors of humanity against new deadly creatures and god-like bosses across terrifying worlds. Play solo or co-op with two other friends to explore the depths of the unknown to stop an evil from destroying reality itself. To succeed, players will need to rely on their own skills and those of their team to overcome the toughest challenges and to stave off humanity’s extinction.
A mix of methodical and frenetic ranged/melee combat returns with cunning enemies and large scale boss battles. Choose specific gear and weapons to optimize for the different biomes and battles ahead. Bosses will bring high-level players to team up to overcome the challenge and try to obtain the biggest rewards.
In other news, Xbox says it has some ‘important announcements’ to make at The Game Awards, leading many to believe they’ll either announce the leaked discless Xbox Series X console or potentially drop several Activision-published games on Game Pass.
