Resident Evil 2 Free Content Coming After Launch

Resident Evil 2 releases on 25 January and everything we’ve seen so far about the game does indicate that it will be horrifyingly brilliant. I played the 1-shot demo and noted that if it is any indication of the quality of the full game, then Capcom might have just set a new bar for remakes going forward. Capcom isn’t stopping there, as they revealed that Resident Evil 2 free content will arrive for gamers post-launch.

We already know the story length has been confirmed as roughly 10 hours for Leon and 10 hours for Claire. Then, the game will also launch with two additional game modes, 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor, which players will need to unlock via gameplay. That’s a lot of content if you ask me, but Capcom is planning more. The Resident Evil 2 free content coming post-launch has been revealed as another game mode and it sounds great.

The game mode will be called The Ghost Survivors, where players will be able to play with other characters from the game. You can step into the boots of Robert Kendo or the mayor’s daughter, Katherine. More characters will be announced at a later date and particulars of this mode is a little scarce.

What we do know is that there will be randomized elements and players will be able to earn points to spend in an in-game shop while playing. There are no microtransactions in this in-game shop, so don’t worry. Apparently, the mode is a rogue-like experience so it will definitely deliver a worthy challenge. We all know how much re-playability rogue-like titles have, so this Resident Evil 2 free content is great.

There is no official release date for the mode as the game only releases this Friday. There’s also classic skins coming to the game as free DLC. These are currently just for Japanese players at launch. Since there are costumes coming to the game on 22 March, hopefully, we will get them for free as well.

What do you think about Capcom planning to release some free content for Resident Evil 2 post-launch? Are you planning to play the game this week? Let us know in the comment section below.
