The Resident Evil 2 1-Shot Demo was polished beyond belief and simply so good that the game was added to my pre-order list. Capcom could very well set a new bar for remakes if the entire game boasts that type of quality. Since the Resident Evil 2 remake is not just a graphical update but a complete reimagining of the original and will even have some extra things thrown in, many fans (including myself) are hungry for a bit more information. Specifically, what the Resident Evil 2 story length will be.

Well, the Resident Evil 2 story length has now been confirmed as roughly 10 hours for Leon and 10 hours for Claire. Keep in mind that there will be a lot of overlapping sequences so your second playthrough will very likely be shorter than the first. This news (as reported and translated by WCCFTech) comes from a recent launch event in Dubai, where director Kazunori Kadoi and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi was asked about the Resident Evil 2 story length.
As a Resident Evil fan, that is some excellent news, since we all know that playing the game with both characters is a must and there are a bunch of things you would miss otherwise. Further, keep in mind that this is “story length” and you could easily spend a lot more time in the game for a number of reasons.
First up, the game is difficult and new players will probably die quite a lot. Then, there are all the puzzles that can take many gamers a long time to solve. From the 1-Shot Demo, it was clear that Capcom changed solutions a bit and you can’t just open that locker or safe with the same code you used in the original. Therefore, even fans of the original who played it to death will need to put on their thinking caps yet again.
With that being said, the Resident Evil 2 story length should be seen as roughly 20 hours. Throw in some off-track exploration, challenges and optional puzzles, and you have a very meaty survival-horror experience to look forward to on 25 January 2019.
