We know that Capcom is hard at work developing Resident Evil 4 Remake. The game was announced earlier this June at the Sony State of Play event and while it aims to be a complete and “authentic” remake of the fourth RE game, we know Capcom is going to change some gameplay elements in some way or another.
A new leak suggests that Capcom has kept most of the original game’s features intact but at the same time, has tweaked some of the enemy encounters and even boss fights in Resident Evil 4 Remake. If anything, Capcom’s last attempt to remake a game in Resident Evil 3 Remake didn’t go down all that well. The game was missing major chapter content, enemies, boss fights and huge portions of the original game were simply missing from the experience.

The new leak suggests that most of the iconic encounters in Resident Evil 4 are still in the remake. However, this is a leak so I suggest you take it with a pinch of salt for now. The leak does seem somewhat reliable given how detailed it is to specific gameplay elements though. The full leak reads:
-
-Krauser is not cut from the game and his role is expanded in a very interesting way (He’s not the person who kidnaps Ashley anymore), Knife Fight is still in the game.
-
Luis gets an expanded storyline with flashbacks and also some scenes with his Grandpa.
-
The Minigun Guy is cut from the game, but, the rocket launcher guys aren’t.
-
Regenerators have a scarier design, The first Iron Maiden has a Scientist’s body impaled onto it’s spikes.
-
Salazar is still a midget and has a creepier personality.
-
Salazar only has one Verdugo protecting him this time and he is a stalker in the castle, you can down him but you can’t kill him because later in the game he gets combined with Salazar.
-
The Big Cheese also has an expanded storyline and works like Mr. X in the village portion of the game. His final form is still the centipede monster and you still fight him in the barn.
-
Del Lago’s boss fight is significantly different, working similar to the Moreau fight in Village. And yes, if you shoot the water you’ll still get the jumpscare, but it doesn’t eat you this time, you just see a really big shadow swimming to the other end of the lake.
-
Ashley’s portion in the castle is longer but she can use a knife this time.
-
Ashley’s AI is much better and she can throw objects at the enemies, like rocks.
-
2 Demos are scheduled to release in January 2023, 1 Village demo and 1 Castle demo just like Village did.
Capcom plans to release the Resident Evil 4 Remake on 23 March 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Catch up on the trailer below.
