If you haven’t picked up the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4 Remake, the game is now cheaper than ever before thanks to the recently-released Gold Edition.
Capcom launched the Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition last week which acts as the game’s full-package experience similar to past Resident Evil games. This means it includes all content updates and DLC. It comes with the Ada Wong DLC, Separate Ways and some additional costumes and treasure maps.
At launch, the Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition is cheaper than the original price of the game. It costs only R949. When Resident Evil 4 launched back in 2023, it was sold for R1299. So the Gold Edition is already a bargain.
However, if you’re looking at just the standard edition of Resident Evil 4, the game is also cheaper than before. It costs only R749 now on PlayStation and R719 on Xbox and Steam.

The lower price tags for these two versions of Resident Evil 4 should give players who haven’t picked up the game the perfect opportunity to do so. Resident Evil 4 Remake was one of 2023’s best games. In my review, I praised the game’s authentic remake approach which is combined with some much-needed quality-of-life changes.
Resident Evil 4 also got its own PS VR2 mode in late 2023 meaning the entire game is now playable in VR. The update was also free.
It doesn’t seem like Capcom is slowing down anytime soon with Resident Evil games. According to reports, the studio has five new games in development all based on the series. Fans (like me) are hoping that Resident Evil 5 is one of those games. We also know the anticipated sequel in the series is also in the works. We should see it announced somewhere later down the line.
