Resident Evil 4 Remake Might Lock Treasure Behind DLC

The Resident Evil 4 remake is nearing its big launch next month and more information has surfaced regarding DLC plans. A new listing on the Xbox Store indicates that players might be locked out of additional treasure found in the game if they don’t purchase the Deluxe Edition.

The Xbox Store listing for the Resident Evil 4 remake reveals that the Treasure Map: Expansion will only be available to players that purchase the Deluxe Edition. Unfortunately, the Deluxe Edition is currently only available digitally so players who buy the physical edition won’t receive this DLC (unless it’s sold separately at a later stage). The treasure expansion apparently adds new hidden treasures throughout the game for players to find.

“Discover the hidden treasures that await! With this map, additional treasures will be placed throughout the game,” reads the description of the Treasure Map: Expansion content. “Some of these treasures can only be obtained by this method.”

As the description mentions, the hidden treasure “can only be obtained by this method”, meaning if you don’t have the DLC, you probably won’t be able to acquire the added treasure. It’s unknown what content will be available in these new treasures, though we imagine it won’t be anything too substantial and may just be additional health items or ammunition.

Capcom has yet to address or clarify the locked DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake, though we should hear an update soon regarding the exact contents of the treasure. Hopefully it doesn’t exclude players from acquiring some rare or potentially game-changing items.

The official description of Resident Evil 4 reads:

“Six years have passed since the biological disaster in Raccoon City. Agent Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been sent to rescue the president’s kidnapped daughter. He tracks her to a secluded European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the locals. And the curtain rises on this story of daring rescue and grueling horror where life and death, terror and catharsis intersect. Featuring modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics, Resident Evil 4 marks the rebirth of an industry juggernaut.”

Resident Evil 4 launches on 24 March 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
