Capcom has announced that the anticipated VR mode for Resident Evil 4 will launch in December. Owners of the game will be able to download the free mode for PS5 and play it using the PlayStation VR2 system.
Capcom says the VR mode in Resident Evil 4 has been built from the ground up to deliver an immersive experience to players. Given the huge success of the Resident Evil Village VR mode, we can expect the same game-changing features on Resident Evil 4.
The Resident Evil 4 Remake VR mode will also ship with a standalone demo which can be accessed without owning the game. The demo will let players jump into the intro of the game and also launch the shooting range where they can experience all the controls and gunfire mechanics. Here, players can shoot each weapon and reload them giving you a taste of how the full VR mode works with enemies around.
Keisuke Yamakawa shared a message for fans on the new mode saying:
“Resident Evil 4 VR Mode takes advantage of advanced technology and features of PlayStation VR2, combined with the experience our development team has gained from previous Resident Evil VR titles, to allow players to truly become Leon and use a variety of weapons with their own hands to take on enemies which feel like they are standing right in front of you. This unique experience is only possible in VR, so with the free demo for all players and the DLC releasing for free for owners of the full game, anyone with a PlayStation VR2 can experience how VR deepens the survival horror. I hope you enjoy the thrills and scares of this game, in which survival is just the beginning of the nightmare.“
Resident Evil 4 was released in March this year to great success. The game has sold over 5 million copies since its launch and amassed multiple Game Awards nominations. We reviewed the game back in March and called it one of the greatest remakes of this generation.
