Resident Evil: ReVerse, the PvP add-on to Resident Evil Village, is being delisted next month and shut down in June. The multiplayer game launched a year after Village‘s release after multiple delays and setbacks, even though it was intended to launch closer to Village‘s 2021 launch. Capcom has now made the decision to delist ReVerse and shut down the servers in June, taking with it all of the game’s DLC too.
Capcom released a statement confirming that Resident Evil: ReVerse would be delisted from all digital storefronts on 3 March 2025. Servers will officially shut down on 29 June 2025. “Thank you for playing Resident Evil: ReVerse,” said Capcom in its statement. “This is to inform you that service will be ending for Resident Evil: ReVerse… The application and all of its DLC will no longer be available for download or purchase.”
The statement continued:
“Resident Evil: ReVerse was developed in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and your overwhelming support for the game has far exceeded our expectations since the time of its release. Now that we’ve reached a new turning point for the series, we feel that Resident Evil: ReVerse has served its original, celebratory purpose admirably. We are incredibly grateful for your warm support for Resident Evil: ReVerse, and we deeply apologize for bringing you this disappointing news.”
Due to the game’s nature as an online multiplayer experience, ReVerse will not be playable any longer once the servers are shut down.
Interestingly, Capcom mentioned in its statement that it has reached “a new turning point for the series,” leading many to speculate that the company is gearing up to announce Resident Evil 9 very soon, which Capcom confirmed to be in development with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard director Koshi Nakanishi at the helm. Fans believe that we’ll get an announcement for the next entry in the franchise this year – potentially during the rush of summer gaming events.
