Resident Evil Showcase Set for 20 October

Capcom has finally announced a date for its upcoming Resident Evil showcase. The event will be streamed on 20 October, a day before the launch of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition which is confirmed to appear at the show. The showcase is also promising a deeper look at the Resident Evil 4 remake which is scheduled to release in March next year.

The Resident Evil showcase is set to air on 20 October 2022 at 3PM PDT / 6PM EDT / 11PM BST or 12AM (midnight) SAST. Capcom already offered a brief look at the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake in its previous Tokyo Game Show event, but pointed to this showcase for a closer look at the ambitious title.

Capcom officially announced the remake of Resident Evil 4 earlier this year at a PlayStation State of Play event. This continues Capcom’s current tradition of remaking several older Resident Evil titles as both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 received ground-up remakes over the past few years. The company is still pushing ahead with new releases in the franchise, with the ninth mainline installment rumoured to already be in development.

Resident Evil Village launched in 2021 to positive reviews. It went on to be nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards that year, including a number of other nominations including Maggie Robertson as Lady Dimitrescu who won the award for Best Performance.

In related news, the Mercenaries multiplayer mode in Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will apparently shrink Lady Dimitrescu’s size. A Capcom executive also stated that the Shadows of Rose DLC – which revolves around Ethan Winters’ daughter Rose – will conclude the Winters family saga, begging the question which storyline we’ll be following in future games.

The Resident Evil showcase kicks off on 20 October at 12AM SAST. Resident Evil 4‘s remake launches on 24 March 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
