Resident Evil showrunner, Andrew Dabb, wants to add Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village into the newly-released Resident Evil Netflix adaptation. Dabb is reportedly a massive fan (no pun intended) of Lady D, as she has affectionately come to be known, and is looking to bring her into the show in future seasons.
The Netflix show has received a host of criticism from viewers since its release with many labeling it as a “huge disappointment”, although there are some who can separate it from the video game series and still find it a great show set in the Resident Evil universe. Regardless of fan criticisms, we find it hard to believe that the introduction of Lady D won’t temper fans’ criticisms and boost its ratings.
Dabb recently spoke to Polygon where he confirmed that he would like to include other characters from the franchise into the show moving forward, with the most notable inclusion of Lady Dimitrescu. Though, Dabb did also rein himself in a little bit, understanding that bringing in a host of characters across the franchise will take careful implementation and “responsibly over time”.
“Over the course of the series, I want to bring everything in… Left to my own devices, I want Lady D, I want the plant monster, I want it all.”
It has not been made clear by Netflix or otherwise that there will be more seasons to come from the Resident Evil show and judging by Netflix’s recent show culling and criticism from fans, we might never get to see Dabb’s vision of Lady Dimitrescu. Though the ending of the first season could hint at a closer relation to the video game series so perhaps fans’ faith in the show could be recouped there – if it ever reaches the light of day.
