Gabe Newell Says Valve Has Games in Development That They Plan On Announcing
Those of you who have been unable to pick up the current-gen consoles will be happy to know that Resident Evil Village will release on both PS4 and Xbox One in May 2021. Capcom confirmed the news after the developer warned fans that the port might not be possible.
Exciting news for PS5 owners. Starting from right now, users can download a free Resident Evil Village demo called “Maiden”. Capcom says that this free demo is a combat-free experience that lets players explore the Village castle. It not only showcases the game’s visuals but also follows the story of The Maiden who is trying to escape the area.
Players without a PS5 will not be able to download the Maiden demo at any time. It is a console exclusive. However, Capcom says they will release a different demo for all platforms later this year before the game’s release.
The Resident Evil Showcase also touched on the Village’s story. According to Capcom, the Tall Vampire Lady (actually named Lady Dimitrescu) who everyone is obsessed with is seen on the phone to someone called Mother Miranda during the gameplay demo. The game is set in a European village and follows Ethan Carter as he tries to save his daughter who has been kidnapped by the crazy group of witches. The lady, and Mother Miranda, are all tied into this plot alongside beastly enemies, crazy mallet-wielding giants and witches.
Just like Resident Evil 7, each area will include a unique boss tied to the game’s plot. In addition, players will encounter some horrific enemies while managing their items, crafting new ones from their menu system and surviving the castle.
Capcom also announced the much-rumoured PvP online mode called RE: Verse which comes bundled with Resident Evil Village. This competitive multiplayer mode lets players choose characters from throughout the Resident Evil series. It features a cel-shaded comic book-like art style. Capcom has not said if this will release at the same time as Resident Evil Village.
So there you have it. Resident Evil Village is releasing on 7 May 2021 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. PS5 owners can jump into the Maiden demo today. Check out the full gameplay trailer down below.
