Resident Evil Village Sales Surpass 6.1 Million Copies

Resident Evil Village has passed 6.1 million copies sold since its release last year, Capcom confirmed in its recent earnings report. The company also provided sales figures for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which managed to surpass 1.5 million units shipped worldwide.

Capcom’s recent financial results showed that Resident Evil Village squeaked past 6.1 million copies sold since the game’s release on 7 May 2021. In the last three months, it also managed to sell an additional 400k copies globally, making it one of the most successful Resident Evil titles in the horror franchise’s history.

Capcom revealed most of their sales stats in the earnings report, adding prior releases like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard contributing a bit towards their current revenues:

“This business segment gave a solid performance, with global unit sales of Resident Evil Village (for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC), the latest title in the series, reaching 6.1 million units, while sales of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin (for Nintendo Switch, PC), an RPG title in the Monster Hunter series, also topped 1.5 million units worldwide.

For FY20 release Monster Hunter Rise (for Nintendo Switch), the Company stimulated further growth of its user base by releasing the PC version in January 2022. In addition, the sales growth of catalog titles, such as the 2019 release Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, and the 2017 release Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, contributed to revenues supported by their consistent popularity.”

Capcom stopped short of offering the exact sales figures for Monster Hunter Rise, though we imagine its PC release in addition to first launching on Nintendo Switch yielded some good results.

It’s impressive that games like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Resident Evil 7 continue to sell well, given that they’re both over four years old. Resident Evil Village, on the other hand, will likely continue to gain sales as it seemingly passed its predecessor.

Resident Evil Village is now available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
