Apex Legends Season 2

Respawn Recruiting for a Single-Player Apex Legends FPS

According to new job listings, studio Respawn is working on a new single-player FPS title that will be set in the Apex Legends universe. The studio which has previously also created Jedi: Fallen Order and Titanfall previously stated that they are working on a yet unannounced single-player project but it’s not clear if this is that same project.

We previously reported that this unannounced title is a first-person shooter that is being developed with the principles of “mobility” and “style” which seems to fit into the Apex Legends arena rather well. One of the job ads for this new project reads “this new single-player title is a developer’s dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by the unique universe it inhabits”.

The job listings also all refer to an “Apex Universe FPS incubation project” which creates a clear link to Apex Legends.

“We are looking for a talented and experienced Mid-Level 3D Hardsurface Artist to help build a brand new Respawn single-player adventure.

This new single-player title is a developer’s dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by the unique universe it inhabits. Our critically acclaimed, multi-platform games have always established a “fun comes first” sensibility created with the notion that great ideas can come from anyone, which allows creativity to shine and individuals to shape the game in meaningful ways.”

While this new title has not been announced as yet, Respawn did officially announce the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order titled Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in May this year. The sequel will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S as well as PC with no mention of previous-gen releases. The sequel will be set five years after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order and will still follow Cal Kestis on a whole new adventure.

Respawn is also currently working on other Star Wars titles as well, including an FPS title in the Star Wars universe from Peter Hirschmann (Medal of Honour co-creator), as well as a new strategy game in a collaboration with Bit Reactor – a new studio formed by veterans from XCOM developer Firaxis Games.
