Ron Gilbert has announced a sequel to Monkey Island. Titled, Return to Monkey Island, the game is set to release this year and will act as a direct sequel to the original The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge.
Gilbert says that the original protagonist Guybrush Threepwood is back and the character will be once again voiced by Dominic Armato.

A trailer to Return to Monkey Island was released alongside the exciting news. The game is being developed by Terrible Toybox, the developer of the 2017 adventure game Thimbleweed Park. Lucasfilm Games, the Disney-owned studio is also working on the title with the studio.

Terrible Toybox has brought on Rex Crowle as an art director. Crowle worked on games such as Tearaway and the LittleBigPlanet series.
