The animated adult comedy Rick and Morty is officially coming back for season 7. Adult Swim recently uploaded the first teaser trailer for the new season which puts a heavy emphasis on Rick Sanchez – particularly the feud between Rick C-137 and Rick Prime. No release date was announced other than a Fall release window but Adult Swim will reveal the premiere date sometime next week.
The first teaser trailer for the seventh season of Rick and Morty is all about Rick, though we might see more familiar characters pop up in later trailers. The series is currently ranked as one of the highest-rated shows of all time, known for its witty humour and fast dialogue. It has also frequently collaborated with other mediums and IPs in marketing, most notably a PlayStation sketch promoting God of War Ragnarok before the game’s launch.

Unfortunately, Rick and Morty was also hit with controversy when earlier this year, the series’ co-creator Justin Roiland, who voices both Rick and Morty in the show, was charged with domestic violence. This resulted in Roiland swiftly being fired from Adult Swim, though the showrunners have been quiet regarding who will replace the voice actor in future seasons. Producer Steve Levy shared an update on the cast at San Diego Comic Con last month, stating that they’re “closing in” on replacements who will likely be soundalikes.
That said, Roiland was also cleared of all charges back in March 2023 due to insufficient evidence. Roiland previously pleaded not guilty to one count of domestic battery and another count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit in 2020. The co-creator was never officially hired back on the show.
We’ll likely hear more information about the new cast and seventh season in the coming weeks. For now, mark your calendars for Fall if you’re excited to jump into season 7 of Rick and Morty. Check out the teaser trailer below:
