Rocket League Sideswipe iOS

Rocket League Sideswipe Coming to Android and iOS

Developer Psyonix has announced a standalone version of Rocket League for mobile devices. Rocket League Sideswipe is based on the popular vehicular football game which is currently free to play across all platforms. The mobile game is set to launch sometime later this year.

For the most part, Rocket League Sideswipe looks very much like the main game whereas players need to clumsily bounce a ball across a field to get it into the opponent’s goal in order to score. However, the game will feature a new camera perspective and modes made for mobile devices.

Players will compete in two-minute 1v1 or 2v2 matches across small-format stadiums. This is a change compared to the usually large field with a handful of players at once. Of course, Rocket League Sideswipe also relies on touch screen controls.

Psyonix says that Rocket League Sideswipe will be free to play across both iOS and Android devices. The mobile game is set to host an alpha in the coming days which will only be available to Australia and New Zealand Android owners. More beta tests will go live in the weeks and months ahead.

Rocket League Sideswipe comes as no surprise to the market. Big publishers with large multiplayer games are all offering new ways to play their franchises across different platforms including PUBG, COD and Fortnite. It was just a matter of time before Psyonix released a mobile variant of their game. Just a pity players can’t somehow carry progress and skins over from the main game.
