Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most anticipated and biggest releases of the decade. Unfortunately for PC gamers, the developer, Rockstar Games is only releasing the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, in June this year, a Rockstar programmer who worked on GTAV, LA Noire, and RDR2, let it slip on his LinkedIn profile that a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version was on the table.
Now, a European retailer also ‘accidentally’ listed that the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version is set to release in 2019. If it was just any retailer that posted a placeholder for Red Dead 2’s PC version, we might’ve not given it a second thought. However, the retailer, MediaMarkt, is “Europe’s largest retailer for consumer electronics,” which gives us hope that the leak could be real.
The placeholder also lists the release date for the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version as 31 December 2019. I wouldn’t take that as fact because retailers traditionally use the date for placeholder ads.
Netherlands online news site, Techtastic, spotted the listing first and posted the above screenshot. LA. Noire released on PC six months after it released on the PS3 and Xbox One. You might also recall that Grand Theft Auto V released on PC four months after it released on PS4 and Xbox One. The new first-person view that we first saw in GTAV also makes it a perfect match for PC. We saw Red Dead 2’s first person mode in action at 3.42 in the video below.

Until Rockstar officially confirms the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version, it remains in the realm of hopes and dreams. However, it does seem very likely. On the other hand, the Red Dead Series has always been a console exclusive.
So, for now, console gamers are downloading the enormous game files, while waiting for launch day on October 26. Then in November, the multiplayer beta for the online component, Red Dead Online, kicks off for everyone who owns the base game.
