In September, Batman Arkham developer Rocksteady posted a job listing for a Lead Animator for their next “90+ Metacritic title.” Rocksteady also opened permanent positions for over 20 new staff members all seemingly related to a new next-gen game the studio is working on. Naturally, the job listings gave rise to speculations around what Rocksteady’s next game could be Superman World’s Finest.
Batman Arkham: Knight is supposed to be the final instalment in the Batman: Arkham series, so that leaves the door wide open for a completely new IP. Rocksteady’s first game was Urban Chaos: Riot Response (2006), a first-person shooter with one Nick Mason as the hero who has to save the world from an evil gang. No superpowers involved. The Batman: Arkham series was mostly very successful, so it would be a good guess that the company’s next title would remain in the superhero genre. On October 3, a new Harry Potter game leaked and the Internet went wild. Many suggested that Rocksteady would be the developer, but those rumours were squashed by Eurogamer when Rocksteady sources confirmed they are not behind the game. A few days later, the next rumour surfaced that Rocksteady is working on a Justice League game set in the Batman Arkham universe.
However, the latest rumour points to a Superman game titled, Superman World’s Finest. Wccftech captured a screenshot from the Game System Requirements website that listed Superman World’s Finest as an action-adventure title in development by Rocksteady. That listing seems to have been removed, but you can check out the screenshot below.
According to Wccftech, Game System Requirements also listed Devil May Cry 5 before Capcom made the official announcement. It’s now the second time a rumour surfaced that Rocksteady is working on Superman World’s Finest. Back in June someone tweeted the title with an image and listed Rocksteady as the developer (news via Gamerant). The tweet, however, wrongly stated that the game would be revealed at this year’s E3 conference.

More recent rumours also suggested that Rocksteady could release a new Batman Arkham game. In the 1997 film, “The Batman Superman Movie: World’s Finest,” Batman and Superman team up to fight the Joker and Lex Luthor, so it could be that Rocksteady plans to release a game with these two iconic superheroes. Talking about Batman, Warner Bros. just released the Batman: Arkham Collection for a crazy R929!
We are now looking at 2019’s E3 for an official announcement about Rocksteady’s next game.
