Get your salt shakers out because this rumour is a little bit on the crazy side. According to an employee from Konami, Sony is planning on purchasing the Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Metal Gear franchises from Konami. The company is also said to be planning games for the franchises and including Hideo Kojima in the development.

According to ResetEra (via 4Chan – yes, I know. I told you it is a little crazy), Sony will reboot the Castlevania series under Japan Studios in a “Bloodborne and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow” style. The report suggests that Sony’s publishing of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood tells us how passionate the company is about the series and gives the rumour some ground.
As for Silent Hill, Sony Interactive Entertainment is apparently working on a new pair of titles in the series. Konami and Sony are working together on a Silent Hill reboot by Japan Studios, the developers of Siren and Gravity Rush. As for the other title, Kojima Productions is said to be working on the “cancelled” Silent Hills.
The report suggests that the reboot has been in development for over a year already and that Keiichiro Toyama and Akira Yamaoka are both working on the project. As for Silent Hills, Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus have teamed up with Sony to begin production on the game.
Lastly, there are a few rumours circulating about a Metal Gear game in the works too. However, production has not begun on this title yet. Instead, rumours claim Sony actually plans on purchasing the Metal Gear franchise from Konami in order to work on a remake of both Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 along with Kojima.
Of course, all these games are rumoured to be PS5 titles. Like any rumour, take it with a pinch of salt for now until Sony reveals more. Out of everything, the Silent Hills game sounds the most legit but we will have to wait and see what comes out of this all.
