ThThe team behind the incredible roguelite shooter Roboquest has announced that they will no longer be working on new content for the game as it heads to PS5 to end its successful launch across all major platforms.
In a blog post on Steam, RyseUp Studios shared a heartfelt update on the game’s roadmap, which this time around included nothing. The studio has been working on Roboquest for almost ten years as the game entered early access back in 2020 before being in development for quite some time before that.
What started out as a once-off project blossomed into one of the most successful and loved roguelite shooters on Steam. However, while players have spent literally thousands of hours in the game, the devs have to call it quits as they focus their attention on something new.
What this “new” is isn’t clear yet. RyseUp says they will share details on their next game in the near future, but in the meantime, PS5 players can look forward to finally jumping into Roboquest when it launches on 27 May.
While the studio is no longer working on new content for the game, as a package, Roboquest is crammed full of content already. When it launches on PS5, it will mark the most complete version of the game with dozens of content drops and game updates included in the package.
Roboquest is already available on Steam (I just love this game myself) and Xbox, so the PS5 launch has been a long-time coming. Of course, if the PS5 version has a few bugs here and there, the studio will definitely iron them out, but in terms of new game content, that’s no longer going to happen.
RyseUp Studios says that co-op and the Roboquest servers will remain online, of course. This means players will be able to enjoy the game with cross-play across all platforms.
You can also look forward to a VR version of Roboquest set to arrive sometime later this year. In the meantime, you can wishlist the PS5 version here.
