The Saints Row protagonist named “The Boss” will have 8 different voice actors, developer Deep Silver Volition announced recently. In a string of video interviews with the cast, we got an insight into how The Bosses various custom voices will work, featuring four masculine and four feminine-sounding voices to choose from.
Each voice-over for The Boss was provided by different actors, giving a bit of variety to the way each voice sounds. Among these include a British female voice and a Western male voice. Actor Antony Del Rio, best known for his work on Metal Gear Solid V, delivered the voice-over in a video posted on the game’s official Twitter account.
Saints Row is a reboot of the chaotic open-world series, but retains some of its great customisation options. Players can already get a taste of this by downloading the free Boss Factory demo on consoles and PC, which allows players to create their own protagonist by choosing from hundreds of options that will be carried over to the full game.
The last mainline Saints Row game, Saints Row IV, launched in 2013 and received a spin-off, Agents of Mayhem, in 2017. Fans have been asking for a fifth mainline title for a while now and it’s good to see the series return with a new coat of paint but still pack some of its crazier elements into the experience.
“While I doubt Saints Row is going to live up to its original games, the reboot does look fun,” we wrote in our impressions. “There are no superpowers and the crazy seems to have simmered down a bit. But there might be a good-old mindless open-world game here to enjoy.”
Saints Row launches on 23 August 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
