During its annual Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung unveiled its latest flagship smartphone range. As expected the lineup includes the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra. Each of the phones packs unique features but if you want the best, you’ll need to go for the S23 Ultra. It comes with a massive 200MP camera sensor, new low-light features, 8K video recording and more.
Samsung has also improved the entire range by including the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU in all the models. This has enhanced not only the general performance of the phones but also gaming and 3D workloads.

The biggest change in the lineup is the new camera layout which has now dropped the cut-out completely. Instead, the camera system now juts out of the back of the phone without any module. As a result, the back of the phone is much cleaner than before.
All three Galaxy S23 phones come in four colours. There’s Phantom Black, Cream, Green and Lavender.
Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+
The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ come in two models. The S23+ includes a 6.6-inch display and the S23 packs a 6.1-inch display. Both phones include flat displays.

Galaxy S23 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the high-end model in the series. It packs a 6.8-inch edge display that is now curved on the edge of the phone. The camera system has seen a robust upgrade with a 200MP sensor that improves low-light photography and enables users to take high-detail photos no matter where they are.
The S23 Ultra uses a new 200MP Adaptive Pixel Sensor to combine 16 pixels into one larger pixel. There’s also a new Night Portrait mode on the selfie camera. This enhances selfie photos taken in the dark by enhancing the image quality.

Samsung Galaxy S23 South African Pricing and Release Date
South Africans will be able to pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy S23 range starting today. The phones will launch on 17 February. Pricing is as follows:
- Samsung Galaxy S23 – From R21,999
- Samsung Galaxy S23+ – From R23,999
- Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – From R31,999
Samsung says early pre-order customers will also get an automatic storage increase if they place their order before the cut-off date. This means you’ll go from a 256GB phone to a 512GB model free of charge. You can also trade in your current Galaxy smartphone towards the purchase of your new one. Pre-order customers will also get a Galaxy S Tab S6 Lite for free with their pre-order.
The R10 000 trade-in offer allows customers to save a fair portion of the cost provided the device they want to trade in is up to standard. This offer includes the discounted Samsung Care Plus offer once-off fee of R499 across Galaxy S23 Ultra, S23+ & S23. Applicable from 02 Feb to 30 April 2023.
