New tech is on the way from Samsung in the form of foldables and wearables. During the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, the company announced a new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, Galaxy Buds 3, Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Each device comes with new improvements over last year’s models but the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have seen the most drastic change in the lineup. The Buds 3 now feature a familiar stem design and the Buds 3 Pro comes in a new case with LED lights.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 have seen some minor improvements too. Samsung has shrunk down the overall body size of the Fold 6 by still maintaining the same screen size. The screen is also brighter with a peak brightness of 2600 nits up from 1750 nits on last year’s model.
The Galaxy Flip 6 now includes a 50MP main camera up from the 12MP from last year. The secondary display has been replaced with an IPS panel instead of OLED and the battery has been bumped up to 4,000mAh from the 3,700mAh.
Both devices use the new SnapDragon 8 Gen 3 and include new vapour champer cooling systems. They also take advantage of Galaxy AI. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, however, uses the note-taking ability to add features such as Note Assist, Browsing Assist, Transcript, Dictation, Summary and more.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 can also take your sketches and by using Galaxy AI, turn them into works of art. You can choose different styles for these artworks including sketch, anime and watercolour.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6, on the other hand, uses Galaxy AI to create Generative Wallpapers which can be used on the main screen and Flex Window.
When it comes to Samsung’s new wearables, the company is launching two new watches – the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
The Galaxy Watch 7 comes with new sleep apnea features and supports AGEs index. There’s also a new double-pinch gesture where users can control the watch, apps and send replies.
Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch Ultra is also on its way to South Africa. The watch is a high-end professional wearable for those who need more battery life, enjoy extreme sports and want to spend more to get that.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra has been made from titanium grade 4 and is IP68 rated. It can withstand temperatures between -20C and +55C. It is Samsung’s first 3nm processor and promises over 100 hours in battery saver mode and 48 hours of battery with continuous exercise.
The new Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have been completely redesigned. They now feature a blade design, listening modes, mic sound monitoring and intelligent sound.
