SanDisk Gets a New Logo Ahead of Split From Western Digital

SanDisk is now called SANDISK. The company has unveiled a rebranded logo, replacing the existing design that has been in place since 1995.

SANDISK says the new company look is inspired by a “single point of data” or a “pixel”. It also represents “the collaboration and partnership required to actualize our purpose and tap into new possibilities.”

The rebrand arrives ahead of SANDISK’s split from Western Digital in 2025. Western Digital acquired SANDISK back in 2016, but the division will go solo in 2025 following Western Digital’s controversial product handling over the last few years.

WD was embroiled in a scandalous SSD error fiasco last year where the SanDisk Extreme SSD would reformat in error, resulting in users losing all their data. These SSDs were sold at a low cost, which means thousands of customers were affected by the issue. WD has yet to take responsibility for the problem.

We don’t know what plans SANDISK has for 2025 as the company goes solo, but with the Nintendo Switch 2 on the cards, the company will likely unveil special storage formats for the handheld. Given Nintendo’s current partnership with SANDISK, the cards will likely be the go-to for new Switch 2 owners.
