Scorn has been through a rough development cycle. The game was originally announced way back in November 2014 before an unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign in December 2014. However, even with the failed campaign, Ebb Software was determined to work on Scorn and planned on releasing the game in two parts. The game entered full production in February 2015 after being privately funded but never saw a release. In 2017, Ebb Software re-announced Scorn and achieved its €150,000 Kickstarter goal. The game was then showcased in May 2020 as a timed Xbox Series X and PC release.
Since its initial reveal in 2020, Scorn’s PC system requirements have changed. This is mostly thanks to the game’s visual improvements that now demand even more PC hardware.
