Concord Secret Level Episode Cancellation Game

Secret Level’s Concord Episode Will Still Air Despite Game’s Cancellation

Secret Level, the upcoming Amazon anthology series which adapts several video game properties into cinematic episodes, will still air its planned Concord episode despite the game’s recent cancellation.

Secret Level will contain 15 standalone stories revolving around video game properties like God of War, Mega Man and Unreal Tournament, among others. During the Gamescom announcement trailer, it was revealed that Concord would be one of the many episodes featured in Secret Level. However, the reveal took place before the game’s cancellation earlier this week, leaving many to believe if PlayStation would still go ahead with keeping the game’s episode in the series.

According to IGN’s sources, the Concord episode will still air as scheduled. The series was created by Tim Miller, best known as the creator of Love, Death & Robots and the director of 2016’s Deadpool. It will feature a collection of short stories focused on several familiar video games from history with Concord being one of them.

Earlier this week, PlayStation and developer Firewalk Studios made the decision to pull the plug on Concord, which will be taken offline today. The game launched on 23 August 2024, just two weeks ago, to a mixed critical reception and a very low player count. Steam charts reported an all-time peak of less than 700 players, which isn’t great for a live service multiplayer game attempting to thrive on a much larger player base.

Despite the game’s sudden cancellation, apparently PlayStation is still going forward with the Concord-centric episode on Secret Level. If the game had been a lot more successful, there might’ve been some hype surrounding its segment on the anthology series. As it stands, though, it might only be another reminder of the game’s tragic early downfall.

If you’re keen to check out Secret Level, it will air exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 10 December.
