The Soulsborne community has its fair share of impressive challenge runs with many spawning from Elden Ring alone. However, if you had to ask any fan what From Software’s hardest game is, they’ll likely say Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. One Sekiro player has now taken it upon themselves to beat the incredibly difficult final boss Isshin The Sword Saint without running, jumping or countering.
Sekiro player GroeneWolf420 uploaded their insane run against Isshin The Sword Saint where they severely limited their movement by not running, jumping or using the game’s trusty Mikiri counter. As a result, the player is at a severe disadvantage against the challenging boss (who is hard enough as is with all of Sekiro’s abilities).
Check out the run below, which took the player 45 tries to beat:

Many players discovered through this video that it’s entirely possible to execute a parry for thrusting attacks without the Mikiri counter, though it seems incredibly difficult and requires pin-point precision and timing. The user says they will also attempt to defeat other bosses without jumping, running or countering – it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Great Shinobi version of Owl.
On the subject of From Software’s tough experiences, an Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree streamer recently managed to complete the DLC without using the game’s Shadow Realm Blessings – necessary items to upgrade your attack and defence power. Granted, it took them 1,000 deaths (with over half owed to the final boss) to get right, but it is possible. Fans have called Shadow of the Erdtree just as difficult as Sekiro (or potentially harder), but with the right build and frame of mind, anything seems possible.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
