Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Has Sold Over 10 Million Copies

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the award-winning action/adventure game from Elden Ring developer From Software, has sold over 10 million copies worldwide since its launch in March 2019. It went on to win Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2019 and has now managed to reach an impressive sales milestone, making it one of From Software’s best-selling games to date.

The official website for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice posted the exciting news in an announcement recently, confirming that the game had passed the 10 million mark in global sales. This covers its release across PS4, Xbox One and PC and also takes into account its digital sales alongside the physical copies. Furthermore, Sekiro was frequently discounted in big sales this year on consoles and PC which definitely helped it cross the 10 million sales line.

The announcement posted on the game’s website reads:

“From its release in March 2019 to today, we have received tremendous support from everyone, and we have now surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who played this work.”

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice took a decidedly different direction with the usual Soulslike formula as it followed the action/adventure genre as opposed to the action-RPG genre that the company’s biggest titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne featured. Despite being touted as the most challenging game that From Software has ever released, it still attracted the attention of players eager to jump into the brutal experience – a rejuvenated interest potentially brought about by Elden Ring‘s massive popularity last year.

In related news, From Software is currently developing a major expansion for Elden Ring titled Shadow of the Erdtree, which still does not have a release date. The developer also recently released Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon to positive reviews. A report from back in May claimed that a Sekiro anime adaptation was in development, though we’ve heard little about that since it leaked.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
