Serious Sam 4 Not Coming to PS4/Xbox One Until 2021 Due to Stadia Exclusivity

Serious Sam 4 is not coming to PS4 and Xbox One until 2021 because its got timed-exclusivity on Google Stadia. Guess we all need to sign up for that service now – Said no one ever. Yesterday, Devolver Digital announced the next instalment in the Serious Sam series. Unfortunately, the publisher has gotten into bed with Google and the game will not launch on consoles until next year. It is, however, scheduled to launch on Steam in August alongside Stadia. So it is not really a Stadia exclusive anyway, right?

The game is being developed by Croteam and follows the traditional grand-scale shooting action as players mow through thousands of enemies. The game is the first new main series release in the franchise in almost a decade. The last game, Serious Sam 3: BFE released back in 2011. The game was originally announced back in 2018 but went silent soon after. Devolver finally shared the game’s teaser with an August 2020 release window for PC and Stadia.

The game seems to be pretty much the same as past titles. In addition to the crazy bomber people running at you, players will have to fight through thousands of enemies as the infamous Sam. Classic enemies like the Headless Kamikaze, Beheaded Rocketeer, Kleer, Scrapjack and Werebull can all be seen in the trailer below.

According to Croteam, the Legion System is a brand new in-engine system that allows for thousands of enemies to be on the battlefield at any time. It looks intense. Take a look at it in action down below;

Rest assured that Serious Sam 4 will launch on PS4 and Xbox One in August 2021 according to Devolver. The next-gen consoles will already be out by then so perhaps it will be optimised for them too?
