Leisure Suit Larry Games Delisted Steam

Several Leisure Suit Larry Games are Being Delisted From Steam

The first seven games in the adult-themed comedy franchise Leisure Suit Larry are being delisted from Steam for unknown reasons. These include several classic entries in the series as well as Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored, which was the most successful title in the franchise thanks to its multiplatform release.

“Dear Larry fans, after decades of questionable pickup lines and unforgettable adventures, it’s finally time for Larry to hang up his leisure suit – at least the retro version of it,” reads the statement provided on Steam by publisher Assemble Entertainment. Luckily, players who already own any of the games (listed below) will still be able to access and play them even after they’ve been delisted. The two most recent games – Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry and Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice – will still be available to purchase.

The following Leisure Suit Larry games are being delisted from Valve’s storefront:

  • Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards
  • Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (in Several Wrong Places)
  • Leisure Suit Larry III: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals
  • Leisure Suit Larry 5: Passionate Patti Does a Little Undercover Work
  • Leisure Suit Larry 6 – Shape Up Or Slip Out
  • Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail
  • Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored

There might be a reason behind the games suddenly being delisted and it has to do with Electronic Arts. Bluesky user Phil Salvador suggested that the delisting were due to a licensing agreement that might’ve run its course. Salvador revealed that the Leisure Suit Larry IP is actually owned by Codemasters (which is now owned by EA). Codemasters might’ve licensed out the IP to Assemble for exclusive online distribution rights. However, it’s likely that the licensing deal has ended, leading to the games being taken down.

Interestingly, the games are still available to purchase on GOG. A 2018 message from an Assemble staff member revealed that the licensing deal didn’t include publishing on GOG, just Steam.

In related news, SteamOS has been prepped for a third-party handeld in the Lenovo Legion Go S. However, it’s unlikely that South Africa will ever see Lenovo’s handeld on the market anytime soon.
