With the Disney+ premiere of Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law just days away, many fans (and critics) are eager to hear if this next entry into the MCU will be a hit or miss. Thankfully, the wait is finally over as the social media embargo for the critics with early access to the series lifted this morning.
Starring Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Jameela Jamil as Titania, Tim Roth as the Abomination, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Smart Hulk, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law marks the final Marvel TV Show for Phase 4. When the trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law first dropped, many were sure that the show would be a disaster and yet, judging from the critic’s first reactions, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law might be a breath of fresh air for the ever-expanding MCU.
Across the board, the humour and tone of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law have critics singing the show’s praises, and Tatiana Maslany’s performance as the titular character has set Twitter on fire. Here are a few of the first reactions:
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law First Reactions
I’ve seen the first 4 episodes of #SheHulk & am happy to report they’re… incredible! Tatiana Maslany is GREAT as Jen Walters but my favorite thing is how fully entrenched She-Hulk is in the MCU while at the same time showing us something completely new. Can’t wait for more! pic.twitter.com/9RRL7MIVgN

I’ve watched the first 4 episodes of #SheHulk and it’s a great followup to Ms. Marvel, both upping the MCU quality and style on Disney+. She-Hulk is the funniest Marvel Studios content so far and has a refreshing take on the franchise lore and formula with its meta style. pic.twitter.com/JFhHL7aOo1

I’ve seen the first 4 episodes of #SheHulk and thought it was delightful! It’s a hilarious legal comedy dripping with MCU connections.
Tatiana Maslany is great as Jen! She’s very funny and the CGI mostly looks good. Makes me excited to see more of her going forward! pic.twitter.com/NIeoQAc2Bm

She-Hulk is VERY different from the Marvel shows you’ve seen. Very much in the same vein as Ally McBeal – a woman in her 30s just trying to navigate her life & happens to be a Hulk. It’s funny & relatable – the stakes aren’t high in this world. It does take a lot getting used to.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will revolve around Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters. Her life is forever changed when she comes into contact with Bruce’s blood, forcing Jennifer to balance her law career and navigate her new life as She-Hulk. The show will also be the first MCU series to break the fourth wall, much like the Deadpool franchise is known to do. One of the common sources of praise is the legal aspect of the show, with many comparing it to the early 2000s Ally McBeal.
You can watch She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Disney+ from Thursday, August 18.
