SHIFT Gaming Experience South Africa

SHIFT Gaming Experience at Clearwater Mall Was a Success

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending one of the events hosted at a shopping mall (Clearwater Mall) around Joburg in what currently is the biggest national mall-based tournament happening in the country. SHIFT Gaming Experience is one of the largest national gaming tournaments in South Africa brought to you by MTN and Hyprop, taking place online and in-person at seven shopping centres across Mzansi which began in April and ends in August 2023.

And from what I’ve personally experienced, it certainly is a gaming experience that all can enjoy.

The presentation was nothing short of amazing with event partners such as Gizzu, Redragon and Computer Mania showcasing the products whilst on the gaming front titles such as F1, Fortnite, Rocket League, Fifa, Tekken & Street Fighter 6 were games that players of all skill levels competed on for either cash prizes and or gift cards that they could claim in selective stores at the mall (dependent on the game hosted).

Admin-wise when coming to managing both, a large set of casual players coming in for an experience to also a hand of competitive gamers looking to claim a stake in winning prizes was a breeze thanks to the ACGL team that featured notable community gaming favourites and creatives such as SkarraRebelMonkeyGothoneyyKasi Esports and many more individuals.

It didn’t end there; Redragon hosted its keyboard rebuild competition where the participants that assembled mechanical keyboard keys the quickest nabbed themselves the brand’s gear and peripherals which in itself is a welcome change of pace for those seeking something different. It was awesome!

The event will continue to the following areas;

Capegate Mall (Western Cape)
– Online qualifier: 23 July
– In-centre event: 28 – 30 July

Canal Walk (Western Cape)
– Online qualifier: 13 August
– In-centre event: 23 – 27 August

Tell your friends and be part of this unmissable experience as well.
