The Silent Hill 2 remake from developer Bloober Team and Konami is finally out this week as players dive into the twisted universe of the franchise after years of silence. The opening sections of the game are quite important as they introduce protagonist James Sunderland to the threat of the fog and the true horrors that await. However, if you’re feeling a little scared about taking the trek down to the town, you can also just turn around at the start of the game and get a trophy for it.
As reported by Automaton, players discovered that, during the opening moments of the Silent Hill 2 remake when James must venture down into the town, he can simply turn around and try to make a break for it down the road in the opposite direction. Eventually, players will hit an invisible wall but the good news is that you actually get a trophy called “No Turning Back Now” for doing it.
Unfortunately, there isn’t any Far Cry 4-style secret ending that sees James gleefully walk off into the sunset and away from the cursed town. While the game does contain a few new endings (which we won’t spoil here), they can only be unlocked by actually completing the game and doing things the traditional way. On the plus side, your lack of courage is rewarded with a trophy/achievement.
In related news, the Silent Hill 2 remake lets you turn off your UI and add a 90s filter for that authentic retro experience. Bloober Team previously stated that it will take players anywhere between 16-18 hours to beat the main campaign, though reports are now coming in claiming it took some players as long as 20 hours or more to explore everything. This makes it twice as long as the original game, which clocks in at around 6-8 hours.
Silent Hill 2 is now available on PS5 and PC.
